Project Manager

Located in western North Carolina, the Town of Lake Lure sits in the heart of Hickory Nut Gorge, only 30 miles east of Asheville, 95 miles west of Charlotte, and 55 miles north of Greenville, SC. The Town encompasses 13.2 square miles, including the 720-acre lake with a large central body of deep water, three long bays, an island of seven acres, and many small bays and inlets with picturesque backgrounds of forest-clad hills and mountains. The Town has a permanent population of approximately 1,365, with an in-season population of over 12,000. Lake Lure has become a destination for tourists worldwide with its 27 miles of lake shoreline, beach area, marina, municipal golf course, community center, and visitor center. The Town has 38 employees and an approved FY2022 total budget of $11.9 million, including a General Fund of $9.9 million. A full-service community, the Town of Lake Lure provides water and sewer service, solid waste, garbage/recycling collection, planning and zoning services, police and fire protection, and recreational opportunities. The Town also owns and operates a dam and a hydroelectric plant which have extensive, comprehensive improvements underway.

The Project Manager will report to the Town Manager and perform skilled technical work in planning, design, construction, contract administration, and project management tasks, as well as provides support for the Town’s strategic and comprehensive planning efforts and capital improvements. Projects are diverse in type, size, and complexity and have, among other areas, a heavy emphasis on sewer, hydroelectricity production, dredging, and dam construction and repair/replacement.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, architecture, construction management, facilities management, project management, business management, or related field and at least four (4) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred. Experience with infrastructure improvements, utilities, budgets, grants, strategic planning, performance management, and working with regulatory agencies is needed. Mechanical Engineer- Equipment Design

Orano FS is seeking a Mechanical Engineer IV or Principal Engineer (Equipment Design Engineer) for nuclear fuel cycle and related facilities. The initial focus of the work scope will be back end fuel handling equipment. The scope may also later include nuclear material packaging/ancillary equipment; material processing and handling equipment/systems; remote maintenance equipment/systems; confinement structures (e.g., hot cells); etc. Equipment may be deployed in permanent facilities/structures or as temporary/modular systems.

The individual will:

Engage stakeholders and assist in the development of requirements (e.g., functional, regulatory, etc.) and identification of applicable codes/standards for the proposed equipment;
Perform research and identify approaches for meeting the proposed requirements (e.g., via appropriate combinations of COTS components, modified COTS components, and/or custom components/equipment);
Develop conceptual design options for the equipment;
Support the development of cost estimates for completing the design, fabrication, testing, and installation of the equipment;
Complete preliminary design and detailed design for the chosen option (in conjunction with other supporting disciplines such as electrical/I&C engineers, structural mechanics engineers, designers, etc.); and support fabrication, installation, and testing of the equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities could include but are not limited to the following:

Development of engineering packages (drawings, specifications, other technical documents) for the equipment;
Interfacing with project management, other engineering disciplines, procurement personnel, and startup/operations personnel throughout the equipment development life cycle;
Providing requirements for facility design/layout to facilitate equipment access, performance of maintenance/inspection, and equipment removal;
Providing recommendations with respect to equipment standardization/modularization; and
Ensuring compliance with government, organization, and customer engineering requirements, standards and procedures.

B.S., Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline);
Min. 5-7 years experience for Engineer IV;
Adv. knowledge of engineering standards & criteria;
Strong problem identification/resolution skills;

Strong written/verbal communication skills;
Ability to develop & maintain good interpersonal relationships; and
Prof. w/Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
Desired requirements, used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position:

Experience w/ 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) and/or analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, LS-DYNA, ANSYS FLUENT);
Multi-discipline (I&C) knowledge base;
Ability to lead project technical team;
Specific knowledge/experience with respect to design of nuclear facility handling equipment/specialty equipment/tooling, nuclear material packages, hot cells/shielded enclosures/gloveboxes, etc.;
Robotics experience; and
PE license.

Job Description:

Orano TN is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to support the engineering and design work performed to support the design and development of various spent nuclear fuel storage and transport packages. This qualified individual will be responsible for conducting engineering structural analysis for all designs using either commercial software tools such as ANSYS/LSDYNA or by hand calculations using classical stress analysis. Solid understanding of structural mechanics fundamentals is required.

Additional job responsibilities will include the following:

Perform mechanical or mechanical dynamics analysis to support the application for a license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
Interface with designers, project engineers and other analytical disciplines (Nuclear, thermal, etc.) to ensure the structural integrity of the design.
Conducting finite element analysis on systems and components using either commercial software tools such as ANSYS/LSDYNA or by hand calculations using classical stress analysis. Types of analyses required are linear and non-linear structural analysis, rigid body dynamics, modes and frequencies.
Provide design solutions and verification methods.
Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, design reviews, peer reviews and problem solving meetings.
Produce structural analysis reports and prepare related sections of the Safety Analysis Report (SAR).

What you will do as a Continuous Improvement Engineer:

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for Operational Excellence integrating Lean/Continuous improvement into day-to-day operations and drive improvement by providing training, tools, data, and leadership to the site. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for all site Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance and programs, as well as maintaining and improving ISO systems and compliance.

• Collaborates with Operations on all forms of continuous improvement projects, aimed directly at improving efficiencies, reducing waste and low-value activities, improving productivity.
• Employee Engagement – Develop team’s ability to solve their short-term and long-term operational issues by establishing, and leading, the continuous improvement process and culture. Will be responsible for the hands-on design and implementation of specific projects.
• Support and assist management, and plant supervisors, in implementing cost optimization tools; including, but not limited to Lean, Six Sigma, High Performance Work Teams, etc.
• Apply process improvement tools to identify measurable standards to improve business capabilities (Safety/Quality/Productivity): specifically, Lean tools and methodology to improve process capability and eliminate defects, as well as tools and principles to eliminate waste and create visual controls.
• Oversee cost optimization projects, including project identification, prioritization, and selection, tracking project results, monitoring project progress, and reporting on progress.
• Ensure site wide EHS compliance and administer corresponding programs.
• Develop and manage internal auditing program to assure compliance with procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Reviews, communicates, and leads cross-functional site teams on investigations related to safety hazards and/or environmental issues. Assures corrective and preventative actions are successfully implemented.

Education and/or Experience
